Saint George, UT- The Dixie State softball team continued to pick up postseason awards as the 2010 Daktronics All-West Region team was released and five Red Storms landed on the team. It was announced that junior Breanna Egge (Las Vegas. NV/Centennial High School),  senior Shantae Hunter (Idaho Falls. ID/Idaho Falls High School) and sophomore Kelsey Mendenhall (Tooele. UT/Tooele High School) were selected to the First Team while sophomore Bailie Hicken (Cedar Hills. UT/Lone Peak High School) and freshman Anna Cue (Murrieta Valley, CA/Murrieta Valley High School) were tabbed as Second Team All-Region players.

Hunter, a four-year starter for Dixie State, finished third on the team in batting average this season with a .420 clip. She had second team-highs in hits (73) and stolen bases (20). Hunter also garnered All-Pac West First Team in 2010 and finished 22nd in the NCAA in "Toughest to Strikeout" with only 6 k's in 174 at bats

Mendenhall finished with a team high 10 homeruns and a .362 batting average and was named to the Daktronics First Team accolades at the proverbial hot corner after claiming Second Team honors across the diamond at first base in 2009. The 5-foot-4 sophomore from Tooele High (Tooele, UT) was one of three players to start all 53 games this season and finished with 13 doubles and 48 RBI's. The 5-foot-4 outfielder from Lone Peak High (Cedar Hills, UT) was instrumental in helping the Redstorm to NCAA Regional Tournament championship. Hicken was named to the All-Pac West First Team this season for the second consecutive year.

Cue, a freshman from Murrietta Valley High (Murrietta Valley, CA) grabbed Second Team All-West Region accolades after finishing with a .401 batting average in 50 starts for the Red Storm, going 67 for 167 with 24 runs, 55 RBI, a team high 18 doubles, 2 triples and five home runs. Dixie State only loses one Senior on thier roster and looks to rebound in 2011.
