STARKVILLE, Miss. – Sophomore third baseman Kelsey Mendenhall of Dixie St., and senior pitcher Ashley Jones of Palm Beach Atlantic have been named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games played between Feb. 22-28.
Mendenhall went 9-for-13 on the week with eight runs, 11 RBIs, two doubles, three home runs and six walks as she helped power the Red Storm to a 4-2 record against BYU-Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific.
The Tooele, Utah, native had a stellar slugging percentage of 1.538 for the week and a .810 on-base percentage.
Mendenhall had a hit in each of Dixie State’s six games last week and had four multi-RBI games.
Jones won all three of her games last week, as the Sailfish went 4-0. She finished the week by allowing just four hits, three walks and no runs with 34 strikeouts over 20.1 innings for a perfect ERA of 0.00.
The Jensen Beach, Fla., native had her highlight of the week come when she threw a no-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader against Flagler. In the second game against Flager, Jones threw five hitless innings, exited the game, only to comeback to the circle for the final 1.1 innings and grab the win for the Sailfish.
Dixie St. is currently 7-4 on the season, while Palm Beach Atlantic is 10-4.

Ark.-Monticello’s Becca Tipton went 6-for-10 with nine RBIs and for home runs over a 3-1 week… Megan Roark of Mo. Southern St., had nine hits, four runs and was never struck out as the Lions went 2-2… Ally Koski had 10 hits, 10 runs and 14 RBIs in her first collegiate weekend for St. Cloud St… Incarnate Word’s Brianna Sanchez went 3-0 with a no-hitter against Texas Woman’s… Casey Hanes of Wayne St. (MI) allowed opponents to hit just .163 off of her and finished the week with five wins and a save.
